Hull FC new signing Jake Trueman to miss start of next season after dreaded ACL injury

New Hull FC halfback Jake Trueman won't play for current club Castleford Tigers again having ruptured his ACL. The 23-year-old suffered the knee injury whilst starring in Castleford's 26-18 win over Huddersfield on Friday night.

The Black and Whites have fended off plenty of interest for Trueman's services, who's move to Hull FC has been one of the worst kept secrets in rugby league. The news will come as a blow to many Black and White fans, with the new signing likely to miss the start of the 2023 season as well.

Scoring a brilliant breakaway try and assisting two others in a superb display over high-flying Huddersfield, the half was soon off for treatment. He was then cleared to return, only to be withdrawn again just a minute later. The worst fears have been realised now, though, with Trueman set to start a rehab process of around nine months with Castleford which he will continue this winter with new club Hull.

Trueman has played over 100 games for Castleford, having signed from fellow West Yorkshire club Bradford Bulls in 2017, for whom he made one appearance. He was ever-present this season having got the better of a serious back injury that has caused him problems for the previous 18 months.

He has been of Super League's most creative players this year, with 16 try assists and six tries to his name, taking his try contribution tally to 22. Only Jack Welsby, Jai Field, Tui Lolohea and Hull FC's Jake Connor have more.
