Coronation Street star Jennie McAlpine has been flooded with messages after being seen with her newborn baby for the first time. The actress, who is famed for playing Fiz Dobbs in the ITV soap, recently announced she had given birth to her third child with her husband Chris Farr.

The couple, who already shared son Albert, eight, and four-year-old daughter Hilda, introduced baby Doris to the world for the first time after basking in their baby bubble for five months.

While the little one's arrival came earlier than expected, Jennie held off publicly announcing the birth – just as she did with her pregnancy which she didn’t reveal until six months – preferring to keep the news private and between the couple's loved one before introducing her to the big wide world via OK Magazine!

Doris was born just before midnight on April 4 at Manchester’s Wythenshawe Hospital, weighing 7lbs 11oz. And the little one's older siblings did get a say in the name. Jennie and Chris had decided not to find out the sex before the birth but had two shortlists of girls’ and boys’ names.

"It was a big conversation," 39-year-old Jennie said to the publication. "There were a lot of boys’ names discarded, mainly because of football. Albert is a Manchester United fan and I think he left us with about two boys’ names to choose from.

"Doris is a family name and I love that it goes with Albert and Hilda. They’re also all very ‘Corrie’. The actress who played the first Rovers landlady, Annie Walker, was called Doris Speed so there’s obviously something in my DNA that means these baby names keep happening!
