Coronation Street's Sean Wilson says 'unfounded historical sex claim' destroyed comeback
Coronation Street star Sean Wilson has said his 'world was blown apart' as he claimed an unfounded historical sex claim wrecked his chances of a comeback.
Back in July, the actor returned to filming as he reprised the role of Martin Platt. The return came six years after he last appeared on the famous cobbles and he was set to appear on screen in October as part of Helen Worth's exit as Gail Platt after she decided to step back from her iconic role after 50 years.
However, in September, it was then confirmed that Sean would no longer be reprising his role as Martin with a spokesperson for the soap telling The Mirror at the time: "Sean Wilson has stepped down from filming for personal reasons."

Now, according to reports, concern for Sean was raised during his chat with bosses and after being cleared by police, he has revealed in a new interview that his "whole world was blown apart" because of the sex claim. Sean was informed he was axed pending a police inquiry into an alleged indecent assault from 27 years ago.
However, he wasn't given any more details at the time and, last week, heard from police that there would be no further action over the claim. Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, he said: "My reputation was ruined in just eight minutes — my whole world blown apart. I had no idea who had made this complaint or anything about it but I lost my job. It’s been hell. I’ve been low all the way through."
