Coronation Street's Jodie Prenger branded 'gorgeous' as she welcomes new addition to family

Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger has been branded 'gorgeous' by her co-star as she revealed she'd introduced a new member to her family. Those who are a fan of the actress will know she is a huge animal lover.

Jodie, who joined the ITV soap last year as Glenda Shuttleworth, revealed last year that at the time she had three rescue cows, three rescue ducks, three cats and three dogs... She also said: "I also have about 17 rescue chickens including my cockerel, Harry," during a chat with the Manchester Evening News.

The West End star then added added another dog to her family and used the opportunity to pay her own tribute to the late Paul O'Grady who sadly died around the same time. The soap star told her online followers in March that she had adopted a rescue dog and that after a call to the rescue centre, she'd decided to rename the dog Lily in honour of the much-loved all-round entertainer.

And now, Jodie has now expanded her animal brood once again. She told her 39,000 Instagram followers that she has adopted a hen from non-profit organisation Lucky Hens, which rescues commercial laying hens from slaughter.

Sharing a photo of herself cuddling a hen, Jodie typed in the caption: "Come on girls…you're coming home with me [hen emoji] @luckyhens if you haven’t already give em a follow will ya" [sic].

Jodie's fellow Corrie stars and fans were quick to comment with Bernie Winter actress Jane Hazlegrove writing: "You are GORGEOUS!!!" while Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Webster in the ITV soap, said: "Love this!"
