Coronation Street's Catherine Tyldesley reveals how she really spent 40th birthday after 'cakegate' row before sharing 'dream' news

Catherine Tyldesley has shared exactly how she spent her 40th birthday weeks after being engulfed in a 'cakegate' row. The former Coronation Street star previously spoke out claims she was involved in trying to bag free cakes from a bakery for a party organised to celebrate the milestone occasion.

The row ensued when a bakery owner hit out after it revealed it had declined a PR company's request on behalf of an unidentified 'well-known' celebrity asking for the sweet treats for a 40th birthday celebration.

Three Little Birds Bakery in Yorkshire made headlines after owner Rebecca Severs, from Keighley, shared a screenshot of an email from PR company NVRLND asking the small business to make 100 cupcakes the celebrity’s birthday event and an extra smaller birthday cake for the celeb's husband.

In the email, the PR company asked for the products in exchange for 'social media exposure' and an appearance in OK! Magazine and while neither the bakery or the PR company named the famous face, other media reports later revealed the event revolved around Catherine, who denied any of it being true.

Following the reports, Cath took to social media to deny all of the claims. Posting a video, she could be seen sitting in her car with a large pair of glasses covering her eyes as she laughed and said: "Cake gate! WHAT!" She went on: "So I had no idea those emails were being sent. I'm not working with the lovely OK magazine on anything that I'm aware of and NVRLND are an amazing company.
