Coronation Street fans say 'sorry' as they're stunned by new Roy Cropper storyline involving troubled Lauren

Coronation Street fans have been left stunned as new details have emerged about an incoming storyline involving Weatherfield legend Roy Cropper and troubled newcomer Lauren Bolton.

Back in June, Cait Fitton reprised the role of Lauren after a short stint on the cobbles which started in November last year. Fans remembered the character for being Max Turner's love interest as he was groomed by her dad's gang, led by Griff Reynolds.

Griff was the far-right extremist who viewers of the ITV soap watched terrorise Alya Nazir and councillor Maria Connor as well as refugee Daryan Zahawi, who was brutally attacked by racist thugs while working at Alya's restaurant Speed Daal before leaving the cobbles.

However, Max refused and later, Reece was sentenced to 16 years in prison and Lauren has since appeared to be struggling to find her way in the world. In upcoming scenes, to air in next week's Corrie, Lauren rejects a call from her dad but admits to Max that she still misses him.

Shona Platt then tells Lauren that she’s got her a job at the café, leaving her grateful, but nervous. When it's time for her first shift, Max wishes Lauren good luck and says he will pop into the cafe to give her moral support. Lauren gets off to a rocky start in the café but Shona assures Roy she’ll get the hang of it.
