Coronation Street fans 'start campaign' for change to major character after sudden personality change

Coronation Street fans jokingly want to 'start a petition' after a major character underwent a sudden personality change. He's been living in Weatherfield for almost two decades and it's not very often viewers of the ITV soap have seen Chesney Brown lose his temper.

The kebab shop worker was furious when he found out that his wife Gemma had headed off to a hotel with her former flame Henry Newton to try and woo him into buying the Rovers Return which had been facing closure amid financial strain. Already displeased she was working with him again, Chesney stormed over to the hotel.

Upon his arrival, he spotted Gemma embracing Henry as she got him to reconsider buying the Rovers after all, hopefully putting a stop to a property developer getting their hands on the place. But Chesney got the wrong idea and confronted the pair, telling Henry that he's her husband and that they have kids - Joseph and the quads - together.

They then started trading insults and when Henry suggested Chesney wouldn't dare hit him, he let his rage get the better of him and did just that, leaving Henry sprawling on the floor.

Gemma had to explain that she was only being nice to Henry in order to get him interested in buying the beloved pub again and with that and Chesney's actions, it was fair to say that Henry wasn't interested in ploughing the cash from his family business into the struggling boozer.
