Coronation Street fans all say the same thing after Tyrone meets his real mum

Tensions were at an all-time high after Claire Sweeney's storyline finally came to a head in Coronation Street. The veteran soap actor is playing Cassie, a drug addict and Tyrone's estranged mum.

Cassie appeared on The Cobbles last month in a dramatic entrance which immediately saw her hospitalised after being found unconscious in the street. It led to her mum Evelyn whisking her away to rehab to try and get her clean.

While Evelyn and Cassie left the street, Tyrone was left in the dark, unaware that his mum was back. He continued to believe she was dead.

But on tonight's episode (August 16), Cassie blurted out the truth after a performance by Little Big Shotz, a musical group comprising of Cassie's grandchildren. With the truth out, Tyrone sat the two women down and demanded answers.

But despite trying to settle things civilly, Tyrone couldn't forgive Cassie for leaving him or Evelyn from lying about his mum being back. But fans of Coronation Street were quick to defend Evelyn for hiding the truth.

Taking to Twitter, Michelle (@mishybabez_) said: "I get Tyrone is angry but Evelyn was trying to protect him." Roberto Diniro (@runninoncaffine) added: "Shut up Tyrone your nan was protecting you #Corrie"

Teena Massam (@teenamassam) said: "I get Evelyn was trying to protect Tyrone but he did have a right to know about his mum…"

Doreen Morfitt (@penniless_poet) added: "And in typical Tyrone fashion he makes out that it's all Evelyn's fault that the woman who he thought was his mam isn't and this one is and... 'I'm Special!'"
