Copenhagen boss makes 'weakest' claim after Manchester United defeat in Champions League

Copenhagen manager Jacob Neestrup said his team delivered their 'weakest performance' of the Champions League group stage so far in their 4-3 win over Manchester United.

United twice led against the Danish champions thanks to an early brace from Rasmus Hojlund, followed by a penalty from Bruno Fernandes having seen Mohamed Elyounoussi and Diogo Goncalves equalise after Marcus Rashford's red card before half-time. The win sees Copenhagen move up to second spot ahead of their final two games, knowing victories against Bayern Munich and Galatasaray will dump United out of the competition. Speaking after the victory at the Parken, Neestrup claimed it was the worst he's seen his team play in the competition so far.

"For me as the Copenhagen coach, it was by far our weakest performance we have had in this group stage so far," he said.

"If you take the picture, today we maybe didn't deserve three or maybe even one point, but if you take it over four rounds, then it's very well deserved that Copenhagen are in second place.

"I believe truly that we have been the second best team in the group over four games - not today but over four games."
