Conte can finally axe "horrendous" £33.5m dud as THFC eye "popular" £25k-p/w sensation - opinion
Tottenham Hotspur are interested in a deal to bring Tyrick Mitchell to north London in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to a report by The Sun, who claimed that Spurs – along with Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle United – are keeping a very close eye on the situation of the Crystal Palace left-back ahead of a potential move for the 22-year-old at the end of the season.
However, the report added that Palace will unlikely be willing to part with the defender for anything other than an offer Patrick Vieira simply cannot refuse – such as the £50m that Manchester United paid to the south London side for Aaron Wan-Bissaka back in 2019 – while Mitchell himself is believed to be happy at Selhurst Park.
Considering the sheer amount of potential Mitchell quite clearly has, and that Sergio Reguilon has disappointed on the left of Tottenham’s backline this season and been heavily linked with an exit from north London this summer, it is not difficult to see why Antonio Conte would be interested in a move for the 22-year-old.
Indeed, according to FBRef, the left-footed Palace starlet currently ranks in the top 1% of full-backs in Europe’s big five leagues for pressures per 90, along with the top 5% for tackles, the top 14% for interceptions, the top 11% for blocks and the top 17% for clearances over the last 365 days.
The £17m-rated defender has also impressed over his 29 Premier League outings this season, helping his side to keep eight clean sheets, providing two assists and creating two big chances for his team-mates. He has also averaged 1.2 interceptions, 3.1 tackles, 2.6 clearances and 4.8 successful duels per game.
These returns have seen the £25k-per-week dynamo average a SofaScore match rating of 6.88,
