Conor McGregor and Drake lose massive £7.1m in Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul bet
UFC star Conor McGregor and music mogul Drake have lost a combined total of up to $9million (£7.1m) after placing bets on Mike Tyson's highly-anticipated fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul. Paul utilised the age difference to his advantage, delivering a professional and confident performance against the 58 year old Tyson.
The pair set a new record for the highest-grossing combat sport event in Texas history even before they stepped into the ring on Saturday morning. The gate revenue for the bout, which also featured Katie Taylor's rematch with Amanda Serrano, exceeded $17.8million (£14million), with over 70,000 spectators at the Dallas Cowboys' ATandT Stadium in Arlington.
Paul was aiming to add Tyson to his list of victories over combat sports figures, including Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley. Despite the odds being in his favour, he was not the popular choice among public figures, with Canadian music star Drake betting $335,000 on Tyson to win.

However, McGregor outdid this with a double bet, including Jon Jones to beat Stipe Miocic at UFC 309 on Sunday, which could have netted the Irishman a return reportedly around $8million. McGregor has been a frequent topic of conversation for the American influencer since he transitioned into boxing, but their feud has so far remained online.
Tyson started the fight strong, pushing Paul around the ring, but as he tired, the 27-year-old seized the opportunity and landed a series of combinations throughout the eight rounds.
