Conor Coady pens heartfelt message to Wolves fans after completing Everton move

Former Wolves captain Conor Coady has sent a heartfelt message to supporters after completing his move to Everton.

The defender has joined the Toffees on an initial loan deal, with Frank Lampard’s side having the option of a permanent transfer. It brings Coady’s seven-year stay at Molineux to an end, where the 29-year-old was a crucial figure in helping Wolves rise from the Championship to a Europa League quarter-final.

Coady made 317 appearances for Wolves in all competitions, missing just two league games since the 2017/18 season, prior to being named on the bench at the weekend. Having written his name into the club’s history for his role in Wolves’ recent success, the England international posted an emotional goodbye on social media.

“Where do I start, 7 of the best years I’ve got to share with you all, it’s been a journey that will live with me forever, from middle of the championship to walking the boys out in a European quarter final, this club has been mine and my family’s life and we will never forget it”, he wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a video montage. “Thank you to everyone who makes the club what it is and every player I shared the dressing room with!

“This club is special and always will be special. Thank you for everything, I’ll always be a wolf.”

Coady sought a move away in search of regular football in a World Cup year, with Bruno Lage opting for a centre-back partnership of Nathan Collins and Max Kilman in a back-four. However, such was the significance of Coady’s departure that chairman Jeff Shi explained the decision to allow the defender to move to Everton.
