Connor Barron will sign lengthy Rangers contract over next 24 hours as midfielder’s deal details revealed

Former Aberdeen star Connor Barron will sign a four-year deal with Rangers.

The Ibrox side are looking to complete the signing of the Scotland under-21 international over the next 24 hours. Rangers have tabled a deal that would keep the talented 21-year-old at Ibrox until the summer of 2028.

The final details of that offer should be finalised and that should give Barron the green light to go for a medical later, so he can complete his move. Rangers have already made contact with Aberdeen and told them they plan to register their out-of-contract midfielder. The Light Blues will have to try to thrash out a transfer fee with their rivals or take their chance at a tribunal. Aberdeen would have been entitled to just over £500,000 in training compensation if Barron had moved to a club outside of Scotland.

The Dons will demand more than that to "sell" to their rivals with add-ons, if Rangers want to avoid gambling on a tribunal. Aberdeen are also protected as they offered Barron a significant new deal which was turned down.

Barron also had offers in Italy and England, from the likes of Hellas Verona, Stoke City, Cardiff, Swansea and Plymouth but has turned them down for the chance to move to Rangers.
