Alan Brazil agrees to brutal Euro 2024 England and Scotland forfeit with Chesney Hawkes

Talksport host Alan Brazil has got himself tangled up in a bizarre Euro 2024 bet with singer Chesney Hawkes.

The former Scotland striker recently slammed Hawkes’ latest tune cheering on the England team. Rewriting ‘Hey Jude’ in honour of Jude Bellingham, Hawkes’ new lyrics include: “Nearly 60 years of pain, hey Jude, we place a nation’s hope upon your shoulders.”

Brazil described his effort as “murder”, but that message was passed on to ‘The One and Only’ singer. It led Hawkes to throw down a gauntlet to Brazil, who could face the ultimate nightmare scenario if Gareth Southgate’s side win the Euros.

On Thursday, Brazil apologised to Hawkes and revealed that talkSPORT had received a message from the music star, challenging the presenter to a possible forfeit. “Good morning Alan. Firstly I’m sure after last night the last thing you want is sympathy from Chesney Hawkes - but here I am giving it,” he said.

“So, I was listening yesterday when you described my fun little social media post of Hey Jude as ‘murder’ and you also said you could do it better. Well, that sounds like a throwdown of a challenge to me so I’m looking forward to you showing us you can come up with a stronger, better version of the song and sing it as well. Because I’ve heard you sing mate and it is beautiful.”

He added: “So how about if England win the Euros, you come up with your own lyrics and sing it on air, and in return, if Scotland manage to scramble a third-place qualification out of the group, you can throw me down a forfeit. Put your money where your mouth is Alan, come on - if you’ve got any left after Royal Ascot this week.”
