Coleen Rooney breaks down in Disney+ Wagatha documentary trailer as fans say 'don't play games'

Disney+ has released an explosive new trailer for its upcoming documentary about the Wagatha Christie scandal that gripped the nation as Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy went head to head in a court libel battle.

Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story, a three-part series, will air on the streaming service from October 18.

Delving into one of the biggest tabloid news stories to hit UK headlines in recent years, the documentary features the inside story of how Coleen, the wife of England’s record-scoring footballer Wayne Rooney, turned amateur online sleuth to find out why private stories concerning herself and her family continued to appear in the media.

Coolen's detective work led to her infamous 'It's Rebekah Vardy's account' Instagram post in 2019 that put the UK media into a frenzy and sparked a high-profile High Court defamation case in which Rebekah, the wife of Leicester City's Jamie Vardy, sued Rooney for defamation.

In July 2022 the High Court ruled that Coleen’s statements were “substantially true” and dismissed the fellow WAG’s claims as “evasive or implausible”, leaving her to foot a multi-million-pound legal bill. The judge concluded that Rebekah had most likely worked with her agent, Caroline Watts, to leak the stories from Coleen’s private Instagram account to The Sun.
