Colby Bishop reveals clear Portsmouth aim after sealing permanent move
Colby Bishop has revealed that he will be aiming to help Portsmouth climb the divisions during his time at Fratton Park.
The forward sealed a switch to Pompey yesterday for an undisclosed fee from Accrington Stanley.
As confirmed by Portsmouth’s official website, Bishop has signed an initial three-year deal with the club.
Pompey have the option to extend his stay for another 12 months due to a clause included in his contract.
After being heavily linked with a move to Portsmouth earlier this month, the forward was seemingly set to seal a move to Championship side Blackpool.
However, after this proposed deal collapsed, Pompey managed to secure Bishop’s services.
The forward could potentially make his competitive debut for Portsmouth when they face Sheffield Wednesday in League One on July 30th.
Having finished 10th in the third-tier standings last season, Pompey will be determined to challenge for promotion during the 2022/23 campaign.
Reflecting on his move to Portsmouth, Bishop has admitted that he is hoping to help Portsmouth achieve success in the Football League.
Speaking to the club’s website, Bishop said: “I’ve played here before and the atmosphere, along with the size of Pompey, is amazing.
“It’s mesmerizing when you’re in the away team, so I can only imagine what it will be like wearing the Pompey colours.
