Cody Rhodes WWE return: Conflicting reports emerge regarding former star's comeback

Some conflicting information has now emerged regarding Cody Rhodes’ shock return to WWE.

For a bit of context, AEW confirmed last month that Cody Rhodes had left the promotion after failing to agree to a new deal.

Soon after that, it was reported that Rhodes had been in contact with WWE Officials regarding a sensational return to the company, which looked pretty likely.

However, fast forward three weeks, and Rhodes has still yet to appear for Vince McMahon’s company, leading some to speculate that the return may not be happening.

A report yesterday from BodySlam suggested that Rhodes’ return talks with WWE had “fizzled out”, but that report may not have been accurate.

Since then, Dave Meltzer has claimed in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the creative team within WWE has been tasked with coming up with ideas for Rhodes’ return:

Whether officially signed, the reality is at this very moment creative in WWE is working on stuff for him and unless it falls through it would be soon

As you can see, Meltzer seems to suggest that Rhodes’ return talks have not “fizzled out”, with WWE internally coming up with ideas for him.

Meltzer also states that Rhodes’ return, unless it falls through at the very last minute, is slated to happen “soon”.

As of right now, there is no word on when the return will be happening, but you have to suspect that WWE will bring him in BEFORE WrestleMania 38 in April.

Of course, it’s important to note that these are conflicting reports from reputable sources, and until Rhodes eventually debuts in WWE, there’s no way to know which is accurate.
