Coach Ann Dickson shares delight as Perth City Swim Club talents earn national squad selection

Perth City Swim Club head coach Ann Dickson has spoken of her delight after seven swimmers were called up to national squads at the weekend.

The group have been recognised for their performances throughout the season, which has been among the most successful in the club’s history.

Evan Davidson’s impressive medal haul at the Scottish National Age Group Championships helped earn him a call-up to the National Junior Team for the coming year.

Murray Pritchard and Katherine Bailey both earned places in the National Senior Academy as they combine swimming with starting university in the next few weeks.

And a quartet of swimmers - Katherine Renfrew, William Shepherd, Jensen Norris and Kenzie MacLean - will be part of the National Junior Academy.

Ann said: “This is a reward for the hard work and dedication this group of swimmers have put in over the past 12 months and before that.

“It is an opportunity for them to get involved with the national set-up and shows that their results in recent months have caught the eye of Scottish Swimming.”

Club president Gordon Currie said: “To have seven swimmers called up to the various squads is a great achievement for a club of our size.

“They should all be very proud of being involved with national squads and should make the most of the opportunity they are being given.

“We know they will represent the club with great pride and we are all absolutely delighted for them.

“I am sure we had a few more who will have narrowly missed out this time, but hopefully they will be inspired by seeing their clubmates called into these squads.
