CM Punk: Michael Cole's subtle dig at ex-WWE star's AEW suspension on SmackDown

CM Punk has reportedly been suspended by AEW, and fans believe that Michael Cole made reference to it on WWE SmackDown last night.

Over the last week, wrestling fans and commentators have been commenting on the ongoing issues between The Elite and CM Punk, which came to light at All Out.

And fans believe that a throwaway line from Michael Cole during SmackDown last night was really a backhanded comment from the 53-year-old about the situation.

After the main event of All Out on Saturday night, CM Punk was part of the post-show press conference with members of the media, alongside AEW President Tony Khan.

During the conference, Punk went off on Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks, three of AEW’s Executive Vice Presidents, as well as Hangman Page and MJF.

All reports state that the comments were not agreed upon beforehand with the AEW team, but were rather Punk airing his dirty laundry in front of the media.

His comments upset Kenny and The Bucks, leading to a reported backstage altercation after the press conference, which even allegedly got physical.

As a result, all members of the backstage fight have been suspended by AEW, with reports even stating that Kenny, Nick Jackson, Matt Jackson and CM Punk are amongst those suspended.

So, back to Michael Cole, and fans believe they’ve figured out that one of the lines that Cole said during SmackDown last night was a subtle dig at the Punk situation.

Cole announced that Ronda Rousey had not been suspended by WWE, but had rather been disciplined by the company internally.

He also added, as you can see below, that Adam Pearce “got carried away and aired the dirty laundry publicly”, which many fans believe to be a dig at Punk doing the same thing on Sunday night.
