‘Class’ - BBC man raves over Celtic ace who had eye-catching 72 touches of the ball

Broadcaster for BBC 5 Liver Dominik Diamond has hailed the performance of Jota in Celtic’s latest victory in the Scottish Premiership.

The Bhoys maintained their lead at the top of the table after securing the points in a nervy 3-2 victory away to Aberdeen on Wednesday night.

Ange Postecoglou will have been thanking his winger after the game as it was the 22-year-old who bagged a brace and the deciding goal on the night.

The Portuguese ace was heavily involved in the game on Wednesday with an impressive 72 touches of the ball in the absence of Celtic’s other tricky winger, Kyogo Furuhashi.

And the BBC man took to Twitter after the game to share his delight in Jota’s display with the pressure firmly placed on their lead at the top of the table by their city rivals: “Jota class but Celtic you are going to be the death of me,” said the BBC man.

Had Jota not stepped up to the mark it would have left the Hoops potentially trailing in their bid to get their hands back on the Scottish crown after Rangers won 2-0.

TIF Thoughts on Jota’s importance…

The youngster made a sensational start to life in Glasgow after joining on loan for the season from Benfica last summer with five league goals by the end of November.

However, before Wednesday night, the winger’s goals have dried up considerably since with the goals against Aberdeen the first in the league since his run of goals ended in November (via Transfermarkt).

But at the age of just 22, we think it is essential Celtic secure a permanent deal for the Benfica ace in the summer having taken to Scottish football like a duck to water.
