Christopher Jullien facing Celtic transfer decision as Carl Starfelt injury moves 2 Parkhead deals up the agenda

Out of favour Christopher Jullien is on the way out of Celtic insists pundit Simon Donnelly.

And he reckons Carl Starfelt 's injury won't factor into Ange Postecoglou's final decision on the Frenchman.

The 29-year-old found game time hard to by following a lengthy injury lay-off, making just one appearance last term in the Scottish Cup clash with Raith.

However, as it stands Jullien is one of just two first-team Celtic centre-backs who are fit and under contract ahead of the new campaign.

Stephen Welsh could be a potential partner on the opening day of the season if Starfelt doesn't recover from his hamstring injury on international duty.

Cameron Carter-Vickers permanent transfer has yet to be sealed, meaning Jullien could play a waiting game to make a case for a starting spot early in the campaign.

However, Donnelly is convinced Ange Postecoglou will be looking to add another defender alongside bring Carter-Vickers back from Tottenham this summer.

When asked about Starfelt's injury on The Go Radio Football Show, former Celtic star Donnelly said: "That's always the worry when players go away on international duty.

"Starfelt, if it's a hamstring injury, they are never great.

"Hopefully it isn't too serious but it just highlights it (a need to players).

"I think they will want to get Carter-Vickers over the line, but I think they would be looking for another centre-back as well.

'I don't know, but it looks as if Christopher Jullien might be on the way, so it looks as if they might need another one.

'I might be wrong, there might be a part to play for Jullien, but I think that is a position he (Ange Postecoglou) will be looking to strengthen.

"He will be looking to strengthen everywhere, in all positions."
