Christopher Jullien admits Rangers cup final winner WASN'T Celtic career highlight as he relives 'goosebumps' glory moment

He once scored the winner for Celtic against Rangers in a League Cup Final at Hampden.

You’d think for any player, that would top the lot. But not for Christopher Jullien. According to the big French defender, he experienced something even more euphoric during his time at Celtic Park. When his 89th-minute header nestled in the net to beat Lazio in a Europa League tie four years ago, he felt something he’d never felt before or has since. That’s why, when he thinks about it now, the hairs on the back of his neck still stand up.

Jullien rates that unforgettable 2-1 win for Neil Lennon’s men over the Italians as one of his career highlights. And as if seeing off Lazio at home wasn’t good enough, he was then part of the Hoops side who conquered Rome later in the group to qualify for the knockout phase. Jullien’s first season in Glasgow was a memorable one.

Injuries wrecked his second year at the club and he was eventually sold to Montpellier when Ange Postecoglou took over. On Wednesday night, Lazio will be back at Parkhead – this time on Champions League business.

And Jullien believes if Brendan Rodgers’ team can generate the kind of spirit they had in 2019, Celtic can get one over the Serie A outfit again. In an exclusive interview with MailSport , the Frenchman – who cost Lennon £7million from Toulouse – recalled his own special night.
