Christian Eriksen makes Manchester United promise after poor start to new season

Christian Eriksen has promised Manchester United are working to make amends for their poor start to the new season.

Although United won 1-0 on the opening day of the campaign against Wolves, the performance was disappointing and that was followed by a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham.

It was obvious the team needed a goalscorer last season and that same problem has been seen in the first two games, but new signing Rasmus Hojlund is still sidelined with a back injury and he's unavailable this weekend.

Nottingham Forest make the trip to Old Trafford on Saturday and that game represents a chance to bounce back. Forest just survived relegation last term and they were beaten four times by Erik ten Hag's side in all competitions.

Eriksen, speaking to club media ahead of the game, discussed the slow start to the campaign and admitted United can do better.

"I think we are not in the place we wanted to be result-wise," he said. "Obviously, it's just the start of the season. The only positive is we started better than last season, a few more points than last season [after the Brighton and Brentford defeats].

"But I think we all know that we can and we want to be a lot better. I mean it's difficult, you can always look back [to what happened at the start of last term] but, in the end, you're going to do what you can and that is in the present.

"And we will have to work a lot to change and get a better feeling than what we had a few days ago [at Spurs]."
