Chris Wilder's play-off prediction and where that leaves Sheffield United and Huddersfield Town

Chris Wilder is the first manager to predict a points total for what he believes will be enough to finish in the Championship play-off places. The Middlesbrough manager knows all too well what it takes to get out of this division, having guided Sheffield United to the Premier League in 2019.

This weekend's Easter double header could be a defining one for clubs looking to book a spot in the end-of-season shoot-out. The Blades entertain Reading on Friday, before heading to Bristol City on Monday. Huddersfield, meanwhile, entertain QPR before making the trip to Wilder's Boro on Monday in a huge double-header.

Yesterday's 2-0 win over Luton sent a real statement of intent to the rest of the division and moved Carlos Corberan's men back into third, while four points from their last two games has Paul Heckingbottom's United back into the top six.

It could well go to the last day before all four play-off positions have been secured and Wilder thinks sides will need to be in the mid-seventies in terms of points. He said: "I think you're looking at 74, 75 points and you'd be extremely disappointed if you didn’t get in on that number. Teams have got to go on a good run, that’s the top and bottom of it." With that in mind, where does that leave Town and United?
