Chris Wilder’s Swansea comments give Huddersfield Town hope heading into decisive week

Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder's belief that Swansea City are determined to finish the season on a high is music to the ears of Huddersfield Town. The Swans are in-form and held play-off chasing Boro to a draw at the weekend.

Next up they face Town's rivals Bournemouth and despite the fact Russell Martin's team have nothing to play for, Wilder believes Swansea have shown in recent weeks that they're already building for next season.

That bodes well for the Terriers, who still have one eye on a top two spot and will hoping the Cherries slip-up. Wilder also says Swansea can cause teams problems because of their style of play.

Heading into the final weeks of the Championship season, Huddersfield sit third in the table, two points behind Bournemouth who have two games in hand on the Terriers. The way the table lies currently means Carlos Corberán’s side are relying on a slip up from Bournemouth to open the door to automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

On Saturday, Wilder’s Boro side played out a 1-1 draw against Swansea, in which the latter dominated the contest with a whopping 75% of possession. And if Wilder’s comments about Swansea, who face Bournemouth on Tuesday night, are to be believed, it could offer Huddersfield fans some hope as the Championship season comes to a climax.

"I always believe when we play Swansea and they are in great nick and full of confidence, they do that [dominate] to everybody," said Wilder following the 1-1 draw.

“I do think the way they play sometimes gives you an opportunity to create and punish. They've got good players and they're always a threat. It was always going to be a tight game.
