Chris Sutton reckons Rangers foul antics could come back to bite Todd Cantwell as he points to prediction that came true

Chris Sutton wonders if referees will catch on to Todd Cantwell - as he admits being made up for the Rangers playmaker.

The January import from Norwich City won a free-kick in the weekend's 3-1 win over Hibs, defender CJ Egan-Riley penalised by ref Alan Muir after the attacker tried to make his way to goal. James Tavernier scored the resulting set-piece and Cantwell netted the winner, but Celtic hero Sutton wonders if whistlers will be on the lookout for the attacker. He asked on Scottish Football Extra: "He went down a bit easy for the free-kick, he has to watch that, hasn't he, referees will eventually cotton on."

Fellow pundit Ally McCoist wasn't having it though and responded with 'listen to me, that is a stonewall free-kick, end of story, defender puts two hands across his chest and pulls him back.' Sutton then asked if Cantwell makes 'a meal of things at times' and host Darrell Currie followed up to ask if the Record Sport columnist would ever say anything positive about the playmaker.

And his reply was to say he knew there was a player within the Rangers star, having talked him up at Norwich. He said: "I am genuinely delighted for him that he has gone and really performed well at Rangers.

"I did it call Darrell, you brought up the article I wrote about him a couple of seasons ago. There is a player in there and fair play to him for hitting the ground running, I am happy for Todd that he is performing."
