Chris Sutton in grinning Celtic backtrack over Ange to Spurs shout as he quips 'we'll need to cut that'

Chris Sutton tipped Ange Postecoglou as an option for the vacant Spurs job on live radio - before leaving his fellow pundits in stitches by backtracking and joking the BBC would need to cut it.

The Premier League side are on the lookout for a new boss after parting ways with Antonio Conte and have given the job to Cristian Stellini until the end of the season. That gives them time to consider their options and find the right man with Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique, Julian Nagelsmann and even Zinedine Zidane among those ranking in the betting.

Sutton was discussing the options on BBC Radio 5 Live though and couldn't help but put Postecoglou forward as an option having watched the stellar job he has done at Parkhead. He has three trophies in the bag already and with a commanding lead over Rangers at the top of the Premiership, a potential Treble is on the cards in his second season at Celtic.

When asked who he would appoint if he was Spurs chairman, Sutton said: "I saw Nagelsmann was linked after he got sacked by Bayern. Luis Enrique is an option. Ange Postecoglou, is he not on the list?"

But the Parkhead hero followed that up, quipping: "We'll need to edit that bit out so Celtic fans don't hear me say that but he's done a really good job."

Host Gigi Salmon as well as fellow pundits Rory Smith and Izzy Christiansen were left chuckling but on a serious note, he added the brand of football the next manager employs will be the key for the fans. He said: "What's really important for Spurs fans, and this was always a criticism of Conte, is the brand of football.

"From the start of the season, how many times have you seen Spurs play exciting football and take the game to the opposition? Luis Enrique really ticks that box.
