Child killer Lucy Letby issues statement as she 'maintains her innocence'
Child killer Lucy Letby is not fighting against being removed from the nursing register but still claims she's innocent.
The 33 year old was given 14 life sentences in August after being convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six others at the Countess of Chester Hospital's neonatal unit between June 2015 and June 2016.
At a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) hearing in east London, Christopher Scott, representing the NMC., told the panel that Letby faces 14 charges reflecting her criminal convictions. Mr Scott confirmed that Letby was legally convicted of seven counts each of murder and attempted murder at Manchester Crown Court in August.

Letby was asked if she accepts the NMC charges in a simple 'tick-box exercise'. She ticked "yes" to all charges but added in a statement: "I do not wish to take part or be present at the hearing. I do not resist the application to strike me off the nursing register.
"I accept the fact of the convictions. However I do not accept that I am guilty of any of the allegations. I maintain my innocence in respect of all of the convictions.
"These convictions are now the subject of an appeal."
Mr Scott will request the panel to remove Letby from the nursing register.
Letby, from Hereford, was informed about the hearing but she did not attend and had no representation. The panel decided to go ahead without her. She is due for a retrial next June on one count of attempted murder.
