Chelsea 'willing to cut losses' with £270k-a-week duo at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are “willing to cut their losses” with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Both players were in and out of the Blues’ side last season, and Crook believes the club are now open to selling the English pair.

As well as outgoings, there will undoubtedly be incomings at Chelsea this summer, especially in defence.

Both talkSPORT and The Telegraph have reported that the west London outfit have Juventus centre-back Matthijs de Ligt on their radar as Thomas Tuchel prepares for life without Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

There could also be signings at the other end of the pitch, with it believed that Chelseahave an interest in the likes of Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling and RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku.

Sterling’s City team-mate Gabriel Jesus has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as well.

If Chelsea need to trim down their wage bill to bring in some of the above players, it looks like Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi could potentially be casualties.

Speaking about the future of the Blues duo, Crook told GIVEMESPORT: “Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Callum Hudson-Odoi, I think Chelsea are now willing to cut their losses with those two.

“They’re on huge money, the type they wouldn’t get outside of Stamford Bridge, so it will come down to maybe a decision with them. How much do you want to play, and how much do you want a big pay packet?”

Combined, it is believed that Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi are earning £270,000 a week at Stamford Bridge.

It is a lot of money to hand two players who made just 13 and 11 league starts respectively during the 2021/22 season.
