Chelsea: £63m star 'quite open' to Stamford Bridge move

Chelsea target Raheem Sterling is open to a move to Stamford Bridge this summer, says transfer insider Dean Jones.

The west London club are expected to launch a bid for the Manchester City attacker soon, and Jones thinks they are in a good position to land him.

Multiple outlets, including The Telegraph, are reporting that Chelsea are in talks with City to sign Sterling this transfer window.

According to the newspaper, the Blues have asked for valuations for both the 27-year-old and his team-mate Nathan Ake as they look to complete a double swoop.

Thomas Tuchel has lost Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, hence the German’s interest in central defender Ake.

Elsewhere, a report from The Guardian suggests that a bid for Sterling from Chelsea is imminent.

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Sterling is open to joining Chelsea and things are looking good for the former European champions in their bid to bring him to west London.

Speaking to GMS, the journalist said: “The positive for any pursuit of Raheem Sterling is that he’s basically on the market, so that’s a positive for Chelsea. It’s encouraging them that a deal can be done.

“From what I understand, Raheem’s been quite open to it. I think more open than a lot of people thought he might have been considering, I think, ideally, he was going to look to move abroad.”

While City do seem open to letting Sterling go, that is probably largely down to his contract situation. The £63m-rated England international has just a year to run on his current deal.

You would not expect Pep Guardiola to be jumping for joy right now, with Sterling being a player who has brought a lot to the Spaniard’s attack.
