Chelsea legend John Terry makes cheeky dig at 'nowhere near' Arsenal and Tottenham

John Terry insists Arsenal and Tottenham are 'nowhere near' Chelsea 's level in a sly dig towards the Blues' London rivals.

The ex-Chelsea captain featured in 69 derbies against the North London pair during his playing days and knows full well the significance of the two fixtures.

However, the former defender has played down the importance of the rivalries after directing pointed remarks towards the pair.

Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League 's standings, above both of the London rivals, and their recent Club World Cup success means they have now won every trophy available within the Roman Abramovich era.

Thomas Tuchel 's side currently sit eight points above the Gunners and a whopping 11 ahead of Spurs in the league standings, in addition to boasting a perfect record against the pair this season.

Chelsea have been victorious in all four of their Premier League and League Cup encounters with Tottenham, and also took all three points against Arsenal at the Emirates earlier in the campaign.

While many view the London derbies as the stand-out fixtures in the Blues' calendar, Terry playfully played down their significance, claiming Arsenal and Tottenham are nowhere near Chelsea's level anymore.

When broaching the subject of London derbies during an Instagram Q&A, Terry revealed: “Playing against Spurs meant a guaranteed three points.

“They shouldn’t be called London Derbies anymore because none of the London teams are anywhere near us.”

While the Blues have dominated the encounters in recent seasons, Terry himself boasts an impressive individual record when he came up against Arsenal and Tottenham during his playing days.
