Chelsea: £33m star 'definitely has chance' of Stamford Bridge exit

Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech could ‘definitely’ depart the club over the coming months, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 29-year-old was heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge during the summer and could finally depart in January despite the change of manager.

Ziyech only started 14 Premier League games under former boss Thomas Tuchel last season, completing the full 90 minutes on just nine occasions.

And it was reported in the previous transfer window that the Moroccan was one of several attacking options who wanted to depart west London in search of regular game time as a result.

Football.London claimed back in August that Chelsea were open to selling Ziyech should a suitable offer arrive for his services after already rejecting an offer worth €25 million (£21m) from AC Milan.

The Manchester Evening News then reported that Erik ten Hag was ‘met with resistance’ by the Manchester United hierarchy in his attempts to bring Ziyech to the club.

Consequently, the creative talent ended up staying put at Chelsea, but the early signs are that he does not feature prominently in new manager Graham Potter’s plans.

Jones believes that there is certainly a ‘chance’ Ziyech departs Chelsea either in January or next summer and has refused to rule out Milan from reviving their interest in him.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, he said: “There’s definitely a chance he goes, and AC Milan might yet even still be keen to take him.

“They decided in the last window that Junior Messias was going to save them potentially going into the market for that type of player, but I think that that could potentially change.”
