Chelsea could get 'unbelievable deal' with £300k-a-week star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea would be getting an “unbelievable deal” if they sign Manchester City star Raheem Sterling for £35m, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The England international is about to enter the final 12 months of his deal at the Etihad Stadium, which could lead to him linking up with Thomas Tuchel’s side for a cut price.

Having slipped down the pecking order at City last season, which limited him to just 23 Premier League starts, the 27-year-old’s future has been in doubt for some time.

Back in October, when Sterling had started just two top-flight games for City, he admitted that he would be open to a move abroad if his game-time didn’t increase.

His opportunities did improve, although he was often overlooked for the biggest matches, highlighted by the fact he was on the bench for both Champions League clashes with Real Madrid and the final-day title decider against Aston Villa.

Sterling still managed 17 goals and nine assists, but Sky Sports believe Chelsea are now interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge.

The report states that the Blues are ‘confident’ of landing a deal providing a fee can be agreed, with Tuchel a ‘big admirer’ of the ex-Liverpool ace.

City value the £300,000 per-week star at around £60m, although Chelsea reckon he’s only worth around £35m, which Jones believes would be incredible business from the Londoners.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “If Raheem Sterling is genuinely available for £35m, then that’s £65m less than what he was available for a year ago.

“So that would be an unbelievable deal. City were looking at Raheem Sterling as a £100m footballer, think back to when he was linked to Real Madrid.”
