Chelsea: Jorge Mendes 'will make contact' over Cristiano Ronaldo at Stamford Bridge
Manchester United and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo could be offered to Chelsea this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
It has been reported that the 37-year-old wants to leave Old Trafford this summer.
According to multiple sources, Ronaldo has informed United of his desire to leave the club this summer, as he wants to see more ambition from the Manchester club.
It is not thought that the 189-time Portugal international has any agreement in place with another club, but it is still believed that he sees his future away from Old Trafford.
According to David Ornstein, Chelsea are considering a move for Ronaldo with new owner Todd Boehly intrigued by the idea of bringing the striker to Stamford Bridge.
And Romano believes that Mendes will attempt to strike a deal with Chelsea, as well as other clubs from around Europe.
He told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m sure that Jorge Mendes will try with Chelsea and with other clubs around Europe like Bayern.
“Bayern are still not open to signing Cristiano Ronaldo so let’s see if they change their position but as of late it’s a no from Bayern.”
Whilst there is some surprise that the Euro 2016 winner has decided that he wants to leave Old Trafford after less than 12 months, it is hard to imagine a footballer ranked as one of the greatest of all time to settle for UEFA Europa League football next season.
And United would be losing their most productive attacking outlet over the last campaign, should Ronaldo depart, with the forward scoring 24 goals and providing three assists in 38 appearances last season, according to Transfermarkt.
Meanwhile he would act as a direct replacement for Romelu Lukaku, should he join Thomas Tuchel’s side, with the £97.5m signing last summer moving back to Inter
