Chelsea: Armando Broja admits he didn't know who Tottenham were

Chelsea forward Armando Broja recently admitted that he had no clue who Tottenham were when they approached him as a youngster.

The England-born Albanian national represents one of Chelsea’s big hopes for the future.

Still aged just 21, he impressed greatly in his loan spell at Southampton in the 2021/22 Premier League season.

So much so, that the club opted to recall him for the current campaign and reportedly batted away major interest from the likes of West Ham and Everton, who wanted to secure his services this past summer.

Blues fans are rightly excited about their young starlet, but things could have been so different had his career progressed in a different fashion.

Broja came through the youth system at Chelsea and classes himself as a blue through and through.

However, he was initially picked up by their London-based rivals Spurs.

He spent two years in the north London club’s academy, before dazzling in a game against Chelsea and duly being poached as a result.

From that point, Broja spent 11 years forging his craft with Chelsea before eventually making his debut for the club in 2020.

It all sounds very idyllic from a Chelsea supporter’s perspective, even more so after Broja cheekily revealed that he had no clue who Spurs were when they first approached his mum and dad.

“I was at Burnham Juniors, the club I was first at and I remember going to a tournament,” he said in a recent interview with Players Tribune Football, per The Express.

“The Tottenham scout actually came to watch another boy. I happened to play well that tournament, I got top goalscorer and best player.

“They approached my mum and dad before I even knew about it so when I came back, my mum and dad said; ‘Tottenham came over to us’. I
