Chelsea: 63-cap star 'flying to London' for Stamford Bridge move

Chelsea are set to land Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and the Barcelona man will fly into London later this afternoon ahead of signing on the dotted line at Stamford Bridge, according to journalist Simon Phillips.

The Blues have not been afraid to splash the cash this summer, having parted with more than £240million since the transfer window reopened, but head coach Thomas Tuchel could secure further fresh faces ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Chelsea have agreed a deal with Barcelona which will see the west Londoners fork out £12million for Aubameyang and Marcos Alonso head in the opposite direction.

According to The Athletic, the striker has also reached an agreement in principle over personal terms and been granted authorisation to travel to London to complete the move.

The report suggests Aubameyang, a 63-cap Gabon international, has been offered a two-year contract which contains the option of being extended by a further 12 months based on the percentage of performances he makes in his second year at the club.

Chelsea have pressed ahead with their interest despite the fact the 33-year-old suffered a broken jaw during a struggle with intruders when his home was burgled at the weekend.

The Blues appear to have seen off Premier League rivals Manchester United in the chase for Aubameyang’s signature as the Red Devils reportedly made a fresh approach earlier this week.

Phillips understands that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Barcelona for the transfer of Aubameyang.

The journalist is aware that the frontman has been booked onto a flight which will head to the capital later this afternoon as the Blues fight to beat the 11pm deadline.
