Chelsea: 59-game star could find it 'really difficult' to leave Stamford Bridge

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku may find it difficult to return to Inter Milan this summer due to the ‘finances involved’, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Lukaku is believed to be hoping to exit the capital club for a second time in his career less than 12 months after making his comeback but securing a move away may prove difficult.

The Belgium international became the Blues’ record signing when they paid £97.5 million to bring him back to English shores last August following two outstanding campaigns with Inter.

However, it soon became clear that Lukaku was not a natural fit for Thomas Tuchel’s relatively slow, possession-oriented style of play.

As a result, the 6 foot 3 marksman has been linked with a move back to San Siro in recent weeks, yet the Nerazzurri are experiencing financial difficulties and cannot afford him.

According to reliable reporter and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Inter and Chelsea ‘will be in direct talks’ over Lukaku’s future ‘in the coming days’.

Romano also claims that the forward ‘strongly wants to return’ to his former employers but that ‘won’t be easy deal’ as Simone Inzaghi’s charges only have the financial might to sign him on loan.

Jones believes that ‘it’s a really difficult deal to see open up’ due to Inter’s off-pitch issues, although claims those trouble do not ‘make it impossible’.

He told GiveMeSport: “It’s a really difficult deal to see open up, just because of the finances involved, and that was what I was told the other day. While Inter do want him, the finances involved do make it tricky, but they don’t make it impossible.”
