Chelsea: 'Zero chance' Potter snubs 'brilliant' £33m star at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly will not spend the rest of the season on the bench, says journalist Dean Jones.

The 31-year-old is yet to feature under new manager Graham Potter, but Jones is confident that he will eventually start to get minutes.

Despite being benched in Chelsea’s last two matches, Koulibaly has still insisted that he is very happy at Stamford Bridge.

“I have settled in well, just like my family. I arrived at the right time, along with players who have won many trophies,” the Senegalese centre-back recently told Carre (via MailOnline).

“It’s up to me to prove that the team can always count on me. For now, I am really happy and I hope to continue.”

Koulibaly’s Chelsea career initially got off to a good start after he scored a fantastic volley against London rivals Tottenham in his first game at Stamford Bridge. Since then, though, he has picked up one red card and lost his place in the Blues’ starting XI.

Jones doubts Potter will keep Koulibaly out of the team forever.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist said: “Koulibaly is one of the best centre-backs in European football. There are still so many games to play. I’d say there’s almost zero chance that Koulibaly spends the rest of the season on the bench.”
