Chelsea 3-0 Wolves: Matheus Nunes went on incredible run during defeat

Matheus Nunes was on the losing side at Wolves were beaten 3-0 by Chelsea but that didn’t stop him from producing a quite brilliant run during the loss.

Nunes, who was signed from Sporting Lisbon for an initial £38 million in the summer, picked up the ball just outside of his own penalty area under pressure from Ruben Loftus-Cheek. He had the opportunity to roll the ball back to defender Toti Gomes instead of losing it in a dangerous position.

However, Nunes had absolutely no interest in taking the easy way out.

Instead, the Portuguese fronted up Loftus-Cheek knowing that if he lost the ball in that position, Wolves were in big trouble. But Nunes backed himself and beat the Chelsea midfielder with great feet.

Mason Mount was next but he was no match for Nunes’ speed and dribbling ability.

The 24-year-old was now set to enter Chelsea’s half and Jorginho knew what he had to do – bring Nunes down.

However, Nunes skipped over the Italian’s lunge as he continued his sensational run. Wolves now had players flooding forward and it was now an incredibly dangerous situation for Chelsea.

Nunes now had plenty of options to pass the ball. Out to Nelson Semedo on the right wing looked the obvious one. Or finding Adam Traore down the middle. Instead, Nunes produced a brilliant disguised pass to Goncalo Guedes, who was brought down on the edge of the box by Cesar Azpilicueta.

Brilliant from Nunes but Azpilicueta prevented him from picking up what would have been quite an incredible assist.

Take a look at the brilliant moment.
