Gillingham head to Chatham Town’s Bauvill Stadium for a Kent Senior Cup second round match

Gillingham will turn to their best young players for their midweek Kent Senior Cup game at Chatham.

The Gills head to the Bauvill Stadium for the second round tie of the county competition tonight (Tuesday).

It’s free entry for fans and Gills boss Gareth Ainsworth is using the game as a chance to give his young players some further exposure.

“We'll probably go a bit younger in that game,” said the Gills boss.

“Hopefully, I'll see a few gems for the future.

“It'll be a big game that we take seriously and we want to try and win.”

It’s a first competitive meeting between the sides for over 60 years.

The Gills are likely to include the likes of Louie Dayal - who scored four goals for the youth team on Saturday - and Michael Luxton who was also on the scoresheet in a 6-3 win against Watford under-18s.

Ainsworth has said he won’t play senior players as he doesn’t want to risk any more injuries.
