Chatham Town Women beat Chesham United 4-0 in the league ahead of their Women’s FA Cup third round match away to Sutton United this Sunday

Chatham Town Women have upset higher-league sides in the last two FA Cup rounds - but now enter the third round as the higher-ranked team.

Keith Boanas’ side are away to Sutton United in Sunday’s third-round tie, and there’s plenty to play for.

Super League sides enter the competition at the next round, and big money’s on offer, too, with £35,000 to the winners of Sunday’s fixture and £9,000 to the losing side. It’s a big jump from the £8k winnings from the second round.

The women’s team are playing the day after Chatham men play Plymouth Parkway in the third round of the FA Trophy.

“It’s massive for the club this weekend,” Boanas said.

“They have absolutely zero to lose, everything to gain. We have to be really careful, but if we play our game I am confident we can get a result.”

Sunday’s match will be played at Sutton United men’s ground, The VBS Community Stadium at Gander Green Lane, where Crystal Palace Women play. Chatham head into the cup tie off the back of a 4-0 away win against Chesham United in National League Division 1 South East.

Boanas said: “It should have been by more but the pitch was awful, as predicted, and we were lucky that we played
