Dartford Women’s joint-manager Connor Dymond looks ahead to eagerly-awaited FA Cup third-round tie against London Bees

Dartford Women will be out to continue their memorable FA Cup journey this Sunday.

The history-making Darts face higher-division London Bees in a third-round match at Princes Park (1pm).

Led by Connor Dymond and Martin McCarthy, the London & South East Regional Premier Division Darts have seen off AFC Greenwich Borough (4-1), QPR (4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw), Forest Green Rovers (5-1) and Keynsham Town (2-1) to reach this stage.

“It’s massively exciting,” said 31-year-old Dymond. “It’s the unknown for most of the club. I think it’s where they aspire to be.

“There’s definitely a chance for us to win the game, we don’t want to just take part.

“It’s the best run in the club’s history. It’s been a tough run. Hopefully, everyone gets to enjoy the day and, hopefully, it goes our way.

“The people at the club massively deserve it.

“Hopefully, we can get a lot of young people to aspire to play for Dartford Women.”

It’s a fifth straight Women’s FA Cup home match for Dartford.

“We have been fortunate with the run of games being at home,” admitted Dymond, who plays men’s football for Snodland Town on Saturdays. “We like to call it a bit of a fortress.

“I think we got 355 in the last round. We’re looking for 450 to 500 in this round.”

While the Darts handed scheduled hosts Saltdean United last Sunday’s scheduled League Cup contest - and haven’t played since November 23 - they had only lost twice inside 90 minutes in 14 fixtures before that.

Dymond, whose team’s top scorer is striker Leen Winner Ekwo, said: “The season has been going very well. We didn’t play last weekend but our performances in the league have been pretty solid.

“We’re going into the game very confident and excited.”
