Chatham Town thrashed Marlow 4-0 in the FA Cup and manager Kevin Hake looks ahead to league action against Wingate & Finchley
Chatham Town’s second-half performance in their 4-0 FA Cup win over Marlow was what manager Kevin Hake will like to see more of.
Chats were a different team after the turnaround in the first round qualifier at the Bauvill Stadium with a rampant showing and four goals securing a spot in the next round.
“It was great to get through in the FA Cup on Saturday,” said the Chats boss.
“We weren’t at our best in the first half, but the lads reacted brilliantly after the break and scored four good goals.
“The second-half performance was exactly what we wanted – high tempo, clinical in front of goal, and full of energy.”
Victory has set up a Kent derby in the second qualifying round as Chats have been drawn to play Ashford United away next weekend (September 13).
All four goals in the win over Marlow came in the second half.
Tope Fadahunsi opened the scoring eight minutes after the turnaround, nodding in from close range after a corner was flicked into his path
Chats doubled their advantage six minutes after through Harvey Walker, with Fadahunsi claiming the assist after setting up his team-mate
Boss Kevin Hake made a host of changes but Chats netted twice more in the final 10 minutes, Adedapo Olugbodi finishing off a move that he started down the left flank
Fadahunsi completed the scoring in the last minute with his second of the afternoon, heading home a cross from Kasim Aidoo.

“We quickly turn our attention back to the league with a tough away game at Wingate & Finchley,” said the Chats boss.
“They’re always a difficult side to play against at their place, and we’ll need to be ready for that challenge.
“We’re also back in cup action next week with the Kent Cup tie against Beckenham.
