Chatham Town confirm that midfielder Jack Evans has now completed his move to Billericay Town for an undisclosed fee

Jack Evans’ on-off transfer from Chatham Town to Billericay Town has now been completed.

Chats have confirmed that an agreement has been reached with their Isthmian Premier Division rivals for the permanent transfer of their former captain, with the player moving for an undisclosed fee.

Evans has been a key player for Chats over recent years and leaves after making close to 200 appearances and scoring 100 goals while captaining the side.

It’s been a drawn-out transfer for the midfielder, whose move to Billericay was first announced in early June, shortly after Evans said that he was leaving Chatham for a new challenge.

Three weeks after the move to Billiercay was originally announced, Chatham stepped in to say that the player remained under contract, and no formal agreement was reached in regards to his departure.

Evans joked earlier in the week on X, saying: “What does kicking a football feel like?? Asking for a friend.”

The former Gillingham player is now free to link up with his new team. The sides meet in the league in Essex on Saturday, September 13. Billericay are due to play at the Bauvill for the return fixture on Saturday, January 24.

Billericay stated on Friday night that the move had now been completed, saying: “Following recent discussions, we're pleased to confirm that terms have now been agreed between Billericay Town and Chatham Town for the transfer of Jack Evans.

“Subject to FA and league registration, Jack will officially join Billericay Town.

“We’d like to thank Chatham Town for their cooperation in resolving this matter and wish them well for the season ahead.”

A Chats statement said: “An agreement has been reached with Billericay Town for the permanent transfer of Jack Evans for an undisclosed fee.”
