Channel 5's Murder in Slow Motion: Who was Clare Bernal and what happened to her killer?

Channel 5 viewers will be given another chance to follow the tragic and horrifying story of Harvey Nichols beauty consultant Clare Bernal who was killed by her stalker. The 22-year-old was stalked by her killer Michael Pech after going on just three dates with him.

After harassing the young woman for months, his obsession reached a sudden and horrific end in 2005 when he shot her in front of customers, before turning the gun on himself. Czech-born Pech, 30, was on bail awaiting sentence after admitting harassing Clare. He was high on cocaine when he killed his innocent victim on September 13.

Speaking to Channel 5 show 'Stalked: Murder In Slow Motion' which airs on Tuesday, Clare's mum Tricia said her daughter had phoned her up telling her she felt uncomfortable. She had told her mum how Pech didn't like her seeing her friends or going home.

Pech and Clare met at the department store where they both worked. Clare had been on beauty consultancy and theatre make-up courses then worked at a cosmetics counter at Harvey Nichols.

Pech was working as a security guard at the store at the time but was eventually suspended when Clare made a complaint of harassment. Pech was arrested and freed on bail without charge.

And days later he turned up on Clare's doorstep in Dulwich, South East London, and was arrested for breaching bail and charged with harassment. Clare was waiting to give evidence but after he changed his plea to guilty and was bailed, he went on to kill her weeks later.

Clare's mum Tricia has spoken previously about how her daughter had called her, telling her she felt uncomfortable. She had told her mum how Pech didn't like her seeing her
