Championship side have the 'edge' in race for James McAtee and other Man City transfer rumours

James McAtee is still attracting a lot of loan interest, with Huddersfield Town currently holding the 'edge' over other interested parties, according to the latest reports.

Just hours after Manchester City announced the £51 million capture of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, attention at the Etihad Stadium has already turned to other transfer business. With multiple arrivals and departures expected, there is still plenty to tie up.

The future of McAtee is one that's been a main focus in recent weeks. After signing a three-year contract extension with the club earlier this year, the midfield starlet is expected to become the next youth talent to break through the ranks under Pep Guardiola.

However, journalist Alan Nixon has revealed Huddersfield Town could be 'cleared' to discuss a loan deal with McAtee when his England U21 commitments are over.

This information has given the Terriers the 'edge' over other clubs in negotiations, but the likes of Swansea City are still showing interest and could make a move in the near future.

The Yorkshire Post has also said Huddersfield are in talks, but the information that he is 'set to join' the club is believed to be inaccurate. McAtee may remain with the City first-team squad this season, but the option of Brighton & Hove Albion is still on the table - with a reported move for Marc Cucurella a huge factor.
