Celtic vs Rangers referee and VAR officials revealed as rivals set for blockbuster first derby of the season

John Beaton has been named referee for the first Old Firm derby of the season after the Scottish Football Association revealed the officials for Sunday's clash at Parkhead.

The whistler was in charge of an incident-packed clash between the rivals at Ibrox Stadium in the Scottish Premiership last April the when the rivals shared six goals as a late Rabbi Matondo leveller kept the hosts in the title hunt.

It was an epic clash in Govan with VAR playing a huge part on that occasion. Celtic were awarded a penalty by Beaton after an on-field review showed Connor Goldson had handled the ball. Rangers were also awarded a spot kick following a VAR intervention with Beaton reversing his decision to book Fabio Silva for diving under the challenge of Alistair Johnston. Andrew Dallas will be behind the VAR monitor on this occasion, assisted by Graeme Stewart. Beaton's on-field assistants will be Daniel McFarlane and Jonathan Bell.
