Celtic transfer news bulletin as Sydney van Hooijdonk price tag 'named', Haksa leaves and Bernardo flies in

Celtic have reportedly been told the asking price to take Sydney van Hooijdonk from Bologna before the transfer deadline with suitors lining up for the striker late in the window.

Bologna boss Thiago Motta has told the Dutch forward he will not be required at the Serie A side for the upcoming season having only played three minutes of football during the season so far after returning from a successful loan spell at Heerenveen last term. Wolfsburg and the Scottish Premiership champions have been touted with an interest in the frontman with the final 24 hours of the window approaching – while Crystal Palace are reportedly monitoring the situation.

With the Italian side keen to offload Van Hooijdonk, Bologna-based newspaper Il Resto del Carlino claim that a fee €5million (£4.2million) would be enough to convince the club to part with the striker this summer. It is claimed boss Motta is keen to add another striker but needs to sell the son of former Celtic star Pierre before he can make a move in the market.

One player who is all-but certain to make his move to Celtic Park before midnight on September 1 is Benfica prospect Paulo Bernardo. The 21-year-old is set to follow in the footsteps of Jota and make a move from Lisbon to the east end of Glasgow.

Lisbon outlet Record report that a deal is imminent for the highly-rated midfielder. They state Bernardo has already flown out to Glasgow to iron out the final details of a move.

Sea Haksabanovic, meanwhile, is on the way out. The winger – who caused a stir with his recent social media activity – has agreed terms with Greek side PAOK, who face Hearts in the Europa Conference League this evening.

And another incoming star has landed high praise from Celtic hero Peter Grant.
