Celtic transfer news bulletin as Quentin Merlin price tag named by Nantes while Gustaf Lagerbielke flies in

Celtic have reportedly been handed a £7million asking price by Nantes for Quentin Merlin as Brendan Rodgers considers a move for the left-back.

Greg Taylor has remained as the first-choice on the left side of the defence since Rodgers returned to the club with Alexandro Bernabei acting as back-up but reports suggest that the Irishman is keen to add more depth in the position. 21-year-old Merlin is on their radar having impressed in Ligue 1 last season as both a full-back and a winger - but the Scottish Premiership champions may have to spend big if they are to snap up the France U21 international.

The Daily Mail report that Celtic have been told that the club "will only entertain" bids that top £7million for the player that has come through their academy ranks and is contracted until the summer of 2026. Rodgers appears keen to have a busy fortnight before the summer window closes and Gustaf Lagerbielke is inching closer to a move.
