Celtic transfer news as Joseph Okumu 'interest' resurfaces while Jota hype goes into overdrive

Celtic have reportedly made an enquiry about signing previously linked Joseph Okumu, according to the player's agent.

The towering Kenyan was linked last summer while playing for Elfsborg, but things frittered out after Ange Postecoglou was appointed and he joined Belgian side Gent instead.

He had an impressive season there though and one year on he's once again being linked with a transfer.

His agent, speaking to People Daily , claims they are interested in reviving a deal this summer alongside Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund.

However he claims it's Dortmund who have made the first move.

"We've had informal interest from Arsenal a Scottish giants Celtic, but Borussia Dortmund is the first to make an official inquiry about Okumu," the unnamed agent is quoted as saying.

"He's open to a move if an agreement is reached."

Okumu could be viewed as an alternative to other centre-backs who have been linked in recent days, such as Taylor Harwood-Bellis or Ko Itakura.

Any move would be independent from their negotiations with Cameron Carter-Vickers, who Record Sport understands has agreed personal terms on a permanent return to Celtic Park.

He's expected to join winger Jota who is also on the brink of making his loan deal permanent.

Record in Portugal claim a deal has been struck with Benfica to bring him back and only personal terms now stand in the way.

But it isn't believed that will delay the deal for too long as Postecoglou looks to get the bulk of his squad together early doors.

It's been quiet on the outgoings front although fringe men Albian Ajeti, Vasilis Barkas and Boli Bolingoli seem likely to be shifted.
